Self-Sufficiency
Sustainable, independent living for a better life, and for hard times
The world is not in a good way, and the average levels of contentment are a disaster, but we promise you can meet all your needs on a piece of land with good design, and it can be full of adventure. Water. Food. Energy. Economy. For private land owners and eco-village developers (urban, suburban and rural) who want to take responsibility for their lives, be equipped for worst-case scenarios, and produce their own needs.
What's Involved
Water Harvesting
Water is life. All self-sufficiency designs start at getting water right. Be self-sufficient in drinking water and irrigation water, replenish your ground water and take responsibility for your waste water.
Food Production
Food forests, gardens, animal systems and aquaculture. What do we need to help our family take the steps to personal responsibility, and how do make sure we're fed when the super markets are empty? Vegetables, fruit, meat, carbohydrates, eggs and milk - we can be 100% self-sufficient in all of it.
Energy Systems
Solar, hydro, wind and wood fire. The most important luxury of modern life is electricity. How can we stop being personally responsible for environmental destruction through our energy use? And how do we ensure our work continues when the grid goes down?
Economic Design
How do you make money or make a project pay for itself? Can a person support themselves on the land they're on? What is the roadmap to getting this design executed? What is possible given the current circumstances and how do we change them? This is the part of the design work that makes sure everything else can happen.
